TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte,  Dec 10 (PIA)--- The Province of Davao del Norte has emerged as the top performing Davao Region province in the field of disaster risk reduction management in year 2022.

Davao del Norte was recently recognized as “Beyond Compliant” during the 22nd Gawad KALASAG Seal and Special Awards for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction  and Management and Humanitarian Assistance 2022.

The recognition was given during the National Awarding Ceremony held on December 07, 2022 at the Manila Hotel, and handed over to Davao del Norte Provincial Governor Edwin I. Jubahib by Interior and Local Government Secrtary Benhur  Abalos and by National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) Chairman Jose C. Faustino Jr.

Meanwhile, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council XI (RDRRMC XI) has extended its congratulations to the provinces, institution and individual which have grabbed the Gawad KALASAG Seal and Special Awards for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction  and Management and Humanitarian Assistance 2022.

Other than Davao del Norte which was achieved “Beyond Compliant” status, Davao Oriental and Davao de Oro also  reached “Fully Compliant” status while the Davao City Central 911 was recognized as “Bes Government Emergency Response Management System.”

A Gawad Kalasag Special Recognition - Individual Category  was also given to Vladimir Santos, Education Program supervisor of Tagum City Division of the Department of Education (DepEd). (Jean Duron Abangan, PIA XI with reports from OCD XI)
