Bangus Fair to strengthen Guimaras’ aquaculture industry

LOILO CITY (PIA) --  Locally-grown milkfish and processed bangus products take center stage in the first ever Bangus Fair set at the Capitol grounds of the Guimaras provincial government on December 16, 2022.

The event is one of the highlights the "Paskwa sa Isla" organized by the provincial government in partnership with Sibunag Fish Producers' Association.  

“This activity is also a way to pay tribute to the local fish farmers and to strengthen the milkfish aquaculture industry in Guimaras to increase their income,” according to the Capitol press statement.

Moreover, the Bangus Fair promotes the local bangus industry which recorded a 7.35 percent growth.

The one-day activity features fresh bangus selling, demonstration on bangus deboning, selling of bangus processed products and cuisine, relleno and marinated bangus, and bangus deboning competition.

To note,  "Paskwa sa Isla"   aims to support the recovery of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), farmers, and fisher folks by generating tourism receipts and market opportunities. 

Aside from Bangus Fair,  "Paskwa sa Isla"  also showcases trade fair, food festival, Light a Tree contest, Zumba dance contest, video making contest, mango selling, children's Christmas costume party, Governor JC Rahman Nava 120-kilometer Tour de Guimaras Cycling Challenge and live bands/busking. (JBG/LML/PIA-Iloilo/With a report from Guimaras PIO)
