TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA) – The newly-appointed chairperson of the Regional Development Council (RDC) -10, Lanao del Norte Governor Imelda “Angging” Dela Cruz Quibranza hosted the 132nd Regional Development Council (RDC)-X full council meeting yesterday, Dec. 13.
RDC-10 members and officers approved the guidelines for the preparation of the Regional Development Investment Program 2023-2028 and FY 2024 Annual Investment Program as well the 2023-2025 RDC-10 Priority Development Thrusts and FY 2023 Work and Financial Plan and Calendar of Activities.
In her acceptance speech, the first lady chairperson of RDC-10 hoped that the keystone moment would fast-track the attainment of Sustainable Development Goal 5 on achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls.
“Looking at you here now and the composition of the RDC, I am confident that Northern Mindanao will be well on its way towards a green, gender-fair, resilient, inclusive, and sustainable recovery,” she said.
Meanwhile, RDC-10 Vice-Chairperson who served as the interim chair for five months and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-10 Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora Cariño said that the leadership of Quibranza will make a huge difference in Northern Mindanao’s development, and improve the lives of Northern Mindanaoans.
“With all of us supporting you, I am optimistic that the RDC-10 will fulfill anew its mandate of steering the sustained development of the region in the coming years,” she said.
During the meeting, Iligan City Mayor Frederick Siao was also elected as chairperson of RDC-10's Economic Development Committee.
Through the Amihan Awards, the council recognized members that demonstrated unwavering commitment and embodied excellence in carrying out the Council’s mandate and functions. There are various awards which include Pagpupugay at Pasasalamat Award, Lodestar Award, RDC Service Award, Dekada Award, and Special Citations. Winners of the #UswagNorMin Photo and Vlog Contests were also recognized.
RDC-10 members also experienced the beauty and richness of Maranao cuisine, as the provincial government of Lanao del Norte hosted Pagana Maranao on Dec. 12 for the Governor’s Night.
