BAGUIO CITY (PIA) -- The Regional Project Monitoring Committee of the Regional Development Council – Cordillera recently inspected various projects in the province of Apayao.
The RPMC teams inspected delayed project implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways – Cordillera and the Apayao State College which have been flagged as delayed under the RPMC Alert Mechanism and validated completed subprojects of the Philippine Development Rural Project under the Department of Agriculture – Cordillera.
A team visited the San Isidro-Poblacion-Lappa-Marag-Cadaclan-Salagunting Road particularly the Salgunting Section in Calanasan and in Marag Valley in Luna. The road project is part of the Tourism Road Improvement Project which when completed, will connect the lower municipalities of Apayao thru the municipalities of Luna and the upper municipalities thru Calanasan.
Based on inspection, Phase II has already physical accomplishment of 89.51% with a -4.48% slippage while Phase III has a 69.47% physical accomplishment and -4.22% slippage, as of November 15, 2022. The road project was earlier reported to have delays because of the intermittent work suspensions due to the adverse weather condition in the area.
Meanwhile, NEDA -CAR Regional Director Susan Sumbeling led another team in validating the completed PRDP warehouse in Barangay Swan in Pudtol town.
The team also took part in the inauguration of the Sta. Maria - Mallig Upper Atok Farm-to -Market Road Project in the municipality of Flora together with RDC Chairman and Apayao Governor Elias Bulut Jr.
The improvement of the 11.80 kilometer road is among the PRDP Subprojects amounting to more than P215 million with a counterpart of almost P40M from the Apayao provincial local government.
The DA-CAR PRDP also formally turned over the seven PRDP warehouses to the respective municipalities. The warehouse projects amounted to P74, 634,789M with P10M counterpart from the PLGU.
The RPMC Team also visited the ASC Multipurpose Building and the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management Building in Conner which initial reports show that both projects were at terminal stage. On validation, both buildings project are already completed as of November 15, 2022 but needs more corrections and other requirements for it to be turned over and be used by the students.
During the problem solving sessions, the RPMC encouraged the project implementers to complete and ensure quality of the projects being undertaken for it to be used for long term by more beneficiaries.
