LAGAWE, Ifugao(PIA) - - Operations of Nutriskwela Community radio stations in Cordillera region and Region II will be enhanced to provide the information needs of the public particularly on health and nutrition.
This is the assurance of participants of the training on community radio broadcasting for radio station personnel of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program (NCRNP) conducted by the National Nutrition Council – Cordillera (NNC-CAR) on November 22-24, 2022 in Baguio City.
“With the new learnings gained from the training, these will help in addressing the challenges and will strengthen the capability of our respectively radio stations as a medium in providing fair, accurate and relevant information to the listening public,” they said.
The three-day activity was participated by station managers (SM) and personnel from Radyo Kiphodan in Lagawe, Ifugao; Radyo Kalugaran in Claveria, Cagayan; Radyo Kasalip in Pasil, Kalinga; Radyo Kasaranay in Luna, Apayao and Radyo Kataguwan in (\Bauko, Mountain Province.
NNC – CAR Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Bella Basalong stated that while the nutrition agency has established tools to continue the operations of the stations, personnel must be properly trained on community radio operations to run the facility effectively to serve its objective of promoting nutrition.
“It will also ensure compliance with rules and regulations governing radio broadcasting,” Basalong added.
MPBC DZWT AM Supervisor Christopher Bartolo, Velanie Dao-ines and John Nestor Ballad of NNC – CAR and Region II, Radyo Kalugaran SM Juliet Atiagan, RPN 9 Station SM Joseph Manzano, Jamie Joie Malingan from the Philippine Information Agency – CAR, Dexter See of Baguio City Local Government Unit and Benguet State University Professor Nora Sagayo served as resource speakers.
Topics include community radio, NCRNP and Nutriskwela monitoring tool, radio council and station and editorial policy; monitoring and evaluation of the radio station; radio broadcast voice and effective anchoring and interviewing techniques; writing for radio and field reporting; broadcast equipment operations, digital media and social networking and other related discussions.
The trainees visited the Radyo Pilipinas - Baguio to have a firsthand experience about operation of a commercial radio station. SM Andre Amadeo and his staff oriented the participants on broadcast equipment operations and maintenance.
There are 50 Nutriskwela community radio stations established by the NNC nationwide to empower communities through dissemination of correct and up-to-date nutrition and health information, and other educational and developmental information. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
