RNC Ilocos ramps up nutrition strategy

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – The Regional Nutrition Council (RNC) in Ilocos strengthens its strategy on the promotion and implementation of projects, programs, and services relative to nutrition through Resolution No. 03 series of 2022.

According to Director Kendall Pilgrim Gatan, officer-in-charge of the National Nutrition Council-Region 1, through the recently approved RNC Resolution No. 03 s. 2022, the council will expand its membership and establish a more multi-sectoral approach to deliver its operating principles.

In its expanded membership, a Scaling-Up Nutrition Movement Network was organized which include the business sector, the civil society alliance, and the academe.

“The inclusion of the convenors of these networks to the RNC will serve as an opportunity and venue for the networks to report and share accomplishments, collaborate and harmonize multi-sectoral efforts and to converge for possible partnership,” Gatan said in an interview.

Convenors of the said networks will be regular members and will attend the meetings and assemblies of the committee.

“Alam po natin na gusto nila talagang tumulong para ma-improve pa natin ang health and nutrition situation sa rehiyon and hopefully sa mga susunod na meetings ng komite ay maibahagi nila ang mga nagawa na nila para tulungan tayo na makamit ang ating goal,” Gatan  said.

Prior to the approval of the resolution, the RNC is composed of 21 regional line agencies, local government units of nine cities, and four provincial governments. (JCR/AMB/CGRC, PIA La Union)
