PGMO tourism office prepares for Kuyamis Festival 2023

Misamis Oriental (PIA) – The Provincial Government Misamis Oriental (PGMO) Tourism Office is now prepping for the 10th Kuyamis Festival with various activities lined up that started on the second week of December until the formal opening on January 9, 2023.

"We are starting to get busy for the 10th Kuyamis festival, the festival will be held in the second week of January and our preparatory programs will start this month," PGMO Provincial Tourism Officer Jeffrey Saclot said.

As one of the highlights of the Kuyamis Festival, the participants of the search for Miss Kuyamis 2023 were introduced last December 13, which will then be followed by the swimsuit competition on December 28, and a coronation night on January 11.

Saclot disclosed that Miss Kuyamis is now gaining ground in the national pageant scene as some Kuyamis beauty queens had brought home National Beauty Pageant titles such as Miss Intercontinental 2021.

Despite the social dent wrought by COVID-19 in the previous years, the Misamis Oriental Provincial Tourism Officer shared that the province had found a way to celebrate the festival using the digital platform and that they are glad that the administration of Governor Peter Unabia continues its celebration.

Staged every second week of January, the celebration of the Kuyamis festival is a joint celebration of both historical and cultural aspects of the province in line with its creation through Republic Act No. 3537 which took effect on January 1, 1930. (JAKA/PIA10)
