Sen. Go: Super health centers to be established in towns

ENRILE, Cagayan (PIA) - - To bring  health services closer to the people, Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go has proposed the establishment of super health centers in municipalities all over the country.

In his visit to this town, Go said the health facilities will be bigger than a Rural Health Unit (RHU) but smaller than a hospital.

"This is in line with our thrust to further improve the Filipino people's access to government health services, especially in the far-flung municipalities that are far from the hospitals," Go said.

He said there will be over 300 super health centers to be established throughout the country, including those that will be established in the selected municipalities of this province.

The senator also said he pushed for the establishment of a National Academy of Sports (NAS) in Tarlac to hone the capabilities, skills and talents of athletes in various sports events.

He said the institution aims to give aspiring athletes the opportunity to uplift their lives and bring honor to the country, and will keep the youth away from illegal drugs and criminalities.

Senator Go visited this town to hand over livelihood project for the 236 dressmakers of the One Enrile Livelihood Development Center (OELDC) worth P3.54 million through the Sustainable Livelihood Program  (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Senator Bong Go expresses his gratitude to the people of Enrile, Cagayan for their support during the campaign period.

Lucia Alan, regional director of the DSWD region 2, said 220 of the targetted beneficiaries were already given sewing machines, fabrics and other materials for dressmaking while the release for the other 16 beneficiaries is scheduled later.

On their part, Enrile Mayor Miguel Decena and Governor Manuel Mamba took opportunities to thank Senator Go for his unwavering support and assistance to the province, especially during calamities. (BME/OTB/PIA Region 2)
