CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) - - The Provincial Government here at exactly 5:30 in the afternoon on December 9, 2022, officially opened the Christmas Lights of the 2022 Paskuhan sa Quirino at the Capitol Sports Complex.
In her opening message, Representative Midy N. Cua expressed excitement for the annual Paskuhan sa Quirino event saying that this is the first time that Quirinians have face-to-face celebration due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Despite the many challenges, we have many blessings that we are most thankful to God for,” the lady Solon said.
On the other hand, Governor Dax Cua said in his message that the 2022 Paskuhan brings hope for all as shown by the moon which shone brightly in the sky during the opening.
“I think it’s a sign of hope, it’s a sign of a brighter future for the Philippines and for the Province of Quirino,” Cua said.
As he reflected on the past years, Governor Cua shared that the calamities had brought not just challenges but also inspirations as well as opportunities for the Filipino people.
Citing the Taal Volcano eruption, the governor said he has witnessed how people from the different parts of the country poured their support to the Caviteños and Batangeños.
“And then came the Covid-19 pandemic that caused fear and danger to our health, to our livelihood, economy, tourism and to our life. We saw how the human spirit worked together, how the frontliners - doctors, nurses, uniformed personnel – police, military; DRRM officers rise up to the challenge,” Cua said he lauded the residents who voluntarily helped in putting up of community pantry in different areas.
Governor Cua said that in those days, everyone seemed to lose hope and could not help but think what the future holds for them but through the united action against Covid, every people can now see a bright future for the country.
The governor likewise reminded everyone of what the Christmas should mean - that by the majesty of the Creator, everyone can now see that tomorrow will be brighter than yesterdays.
“This Christmas brings a message of hope from our Savior Jesus Christ whose birthday we celebrate tonight. Let me read you a verse from Genesis 1, verse 1. It says, in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God simply said. ‘Let there be light,’ Cua read.
As soon as the governor ended reading the verse, Christmas lights brightened the Christmas Village and spectators were entertained with fireworks display. (OTB/TCB/PIA Quirino)
