DAVAO CITY (PIA) – The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region XI leads the reactivation of the region’s Multi-Stakeholders Advisory Council (MSAC) for the operationalization of the Local Governance Regional Resource Center XI (LGRRC-XI).
DILG-XI Assistant Regional Director Adbullah V. Matalam recently led other officials and representatives of the national government agencies and private academe in the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the organization of the Davao Region MSAC.
Ma. Aurora Corpuz, chief of DILG-XI’s Local Government Capability Development Division, has emphasized the need of reactivating the MSAC to establish a convergence of knowledge products through the LGRRC-XI.
The MOA ensures each agency’s functions and commitment to contribute to the successful implementation of the LGRRC which will mainly serve as a knowledge facility for the local government units.
The LGRRC-XI adapts the official name “Bunsali ng Yanungan Onse,” a Mandaya term which means center for wisdom on local governance.
The knowledge facility aims at equipping further the LGUs, especially now that they are transitioning into full devolution pursuant to Executive Order No. 138 or the Mandanas Ruling.
“We need to assist our LGUs to responsibly perform their functions in the light of the Mandanas ruling,” Corpuz states.
The MSAC has also finalized the LGRRC-XI Operations Manual and Strategic Business Plan. (PIA-XI/Carina L. Cayon)
