DTI-XI to prioritize digitalization trainings for MSMEs in the next years

DAVAO CITY (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry in the region has set its prioritization for the micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) such as capability development training on digitalization.

DTI-XI Regional Director Maria Belenda Q. Ambi emphasize the need to prioritize the digital transformation of the MSMEs to grow in order to compete with other MSMEs outside the country and to gain access to bigger markets through a commerce platform.

“We have seen the need for them to be digitally transformed during the time of pandemic because they cannot reach physically their markets, so they have to use the digital platform to be able to access wider markets,” Ambi stated during the year-end episode of One Davao Virtual Presser of the Philippine Information Agency Region XI.

She bared that there are a lot of training available for them in the next six years, saying “This is our number one priority. We hope that by the end of 2028, we will be able to see all our MSMEs already skilled in using digital solutions.”

DTI-XI has also partnered with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-XI), other government agencies and academic institutions to provide innovative solutions which will be made appropriate for the MSMEs development in Davao Region. (PIA-XI/Franchette Delfin)
