LGU Naga braces for Black Nazarene Traslacion 2023

Naga City (PIA) – Bicolanos will once again experience the Feast of the Black Nazarene slated from January 8 to 9, here, as the Holy Cross Parish Tabuco and the Archdiocese of Naga made initial press briefing on its events and programs on Wednesday.

Head of the secretariat Lorraine Oaferina said that the novena started on December 31 and will be until January 8 at Holy Cross Parish Tabuco, in preparation for the feast.

On January 8, the traslacion and replica procession of the Black Nazarene will start at 7am, going to Plaza Quezon. Oaferina invited all devotees with their own Nazarene images to join the parade, as well as the public to visit the receptional image on the stage altar.

Holy masses will start at 6PM on January 9. The same date also coincides with the  34th Black Nazarene feast anniversary in the city. The pontifical mass at 5pm will be presided by a bishop from Sorsogon City.

It will be followed by a penitential procession around the city, then back to the said parish where a closing mass at 8pm will be conducted.

Rev. Fr. Eugene A. Lubigan said that there will be no more restrictions in social distancing but advised all participants to wear face masks and use alcohol disinfectant at all times. He said that they will provide scented cotton to those who wish to touch the image.

Lubigan said that administration of fiesta activities in Naga City gets the same essence and value as in the activities in Manila. The events will also be livestreamed through their Facebook pages.

Meanwhile, the traffic flow and security matters will be coordinated with the city government.
