Baco LGU suspends classes at all levels in both public and private schools

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – Due to widespread flooding in most areas in the municipality of Baco, Mayor Allan A. Roldan suspended all classes today at all levels of both public and private schools of the said town as stated in the Memorandum Order No. 002-2023.

For the past two consecutive days, the province experienced almost non-stop rains, especially in mountainous areas which caused high flooding and affected most barangays in Baco.  Intermittent rains have still been experienced in the entire province of Oriental Mindoro.

The issuance of suspension of classes is consistent with DepEd Order No. 037, s. 2022, otherwise known as “Guidelines on the Cancellation or Suspension of Classes and Work in Schools in the Event of Disaster and Other Natural Calamities.”

The local government advised the public to stay prepared and safe while they are experiencing increased flooding in low-lying areas.  (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
