LUCENA CITY, Quezon -- The observance of the New Year inside jail facilities in Quezon province was orderly and peaceful with no incidents recorded, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said.
Newly-installed BJMP provincial administrator, Jail Supt. Arvin Abastillas said no disturbances were recorded in the seven BJMP facilities as the nation welcomed 2023.
“I commend every jail personnel for their vigilance and discipline in ensuring that all their facilities are safe and secured,” said Abastillas.
Before the New Year’s Eve revelry, Abastillas visited jail facilities to beef up their security measures and prevent any attempts at jailbreak. He also warned BJMP personnel against indiscriminate firing as they welcome the New Year.
In a separate statement, BJMP Provincial Office Spokesperson, Jail Officer Joefrie Anglo commended jail personnel for their sacrifices by being away from their families and loved ones during the Christmas and New Year festivities to be able to perform their duties.
He added the BJMP Quezon will continue to observe security protocols with the expected influx of visitors after face-to-face visits of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) have resumed. (Ruel Orinday- PIA Quezon/ with reports from BJMP-Quezon)
