DSWD-10, PBBM persist disaster support in Gingoog City

GINGOOG CITY, Misamis Oriental (PIA)--On January 11, the Department of Social Welfare (DSWD)-10, alongside the Local Government of Gingoog and the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental (PGMO), joined President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., in the distribution of assistance to families affected by the heavy rainfall and flooding wrought by the shear line and wind convergence last December.

Under DSWD-10's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, the president made sure that P7,500,000 in aid was given to 1,500 of the hardest-hit families. He also made sure that 1,500 Family Food Packs (FFPs) with 6 kilograms of rice, coffee, instant noodles, and canned goods were given to these families.

In a report by the DSWD-10 on January 7, 2023, 18,015 families or 82,765 individuals were hit by the continuous heavy rainfall and flooding in the province, of which 10,302 families or 48,183 individuals are living in Gingoog City.

DSWD-10 Regional Information Officer Charmaine Tadlas said in addition to the food packs and cash assistance, their office is also working closely with the LGU of Gingoog in the rehabilitation of partially or totally damaged houses and other additional concerns.

"Gina-monitor pud nato ang ilang panginhanglan sa matag evacuation centers nga gi-open sa atong local government units. Ang amoa lang hangyo sa katawhan kay dili nato madali hatag ang gikinahanglan nila apan gipaningkamotan karon sa buhatan nga mahatag sa dili dugay nga panahon ang ilang mga panginahanglanon," she said.

(We are also monitoring some of the needs of each evacuation center that has been opened in our local government units. Our only request to the people is that we cannot easily give them what they need, but we are working hard now in the office to expedite the process). (VPSB/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
