IPPO turns over rescued eagle to PENRO Isabela

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Isabela Police Provincial Office (IPPO) has turned over Crested Serpent Eagle to the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Biodiversity Unit recently.

IPPO Community Affairs and Development Unit Chief L/Col. Michael A. Aydoc, P/CMS Isagani B. Pauig, and P/SSg Ronel Valeros from Isabela Provincial Police Office (IPPO) personally turned over said eagle to the DENR to ensure its safety and protection.

Aydoc said that Maj. Geriyell Frogoso found the wildlife specie in his compound in Sta. Maria town on January 8, 2023.

PENRO Isabela Development Management Officer II Pablo P. Agustin made an assessment on the condition of the eagle which has a 169-centimeter wingspan, a weight of .895 kilogram, and a height of 42 inches.

Agustin said the eagle will be brought to the Rogelio B. Baggayan (RBB) Nature Park and Wildlife Center in Tuguegarao City for immediate rehabilitation and return to its natural habitat when it is already fit for release.

The PENRO Isabela official called on the public to report incidents on the presence of eagles or wildlife birds in their places to help save more wildlife species and strengthen the conservation and protection of the environment and natural resources.  (OTB/MGE / PIA Isabela)
