SAN FERNANDO CITY (PIA) — Graduates of this year with Latin honors as well as board and bar examination topnotchers in Balaoan town in La Union are eligible to receive cash incentives of up to P10,000 effective this year as per Municipal Ordinance No. 8 series of 2022.
 
Lawyer Loridel Concepcion, information officer designate of the local government unit of Balaoan, said, “Ang ordinansang ito authored by Sangguniang Bayan member, Herminia Ordinario ay magsisilbing inspirasyon sa mga residente  to strive for excellence in academics  while for board and bar exams, for them to do their best, to give honor and prestige for themselves and for the municipality.”
 
In accordance with the ordinance, summa cum laude graduates will receive P10,000.
 

Magna cum laude and cum laude graduates will be awarded P7,000 and P5,000, respectively with a plaque of recognition.
 
“To our recipients who are board and bar topnotchers, they will be given P20,000 plus a plaque of recognition,” said Concepcion.
 
Eligible to receive the incentive must be a bonafide resident and a registered voter of the municipality based on Section 7 of the ordinance.
 
Graduates with Latin honor and distinctions must provide an authenticated copy of the college diploma and certification from the college or the university showing the Latin honor distinction, among others.
 
“For topnotchers, they should have  authenticated copy of the board or the bar exam or result rating, printed copy from newspaper or screen shot showing the name of the applicant as one of the top 10 in the board or bar examinations, certificate of residency, and the voter’s certification,” Concepcion explained.
