DPWH completes farm-to-market road in San Fabian town

DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – Farmers and residents are now reaping the benefits of a farm-to-market road completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Pangasinan Second District Engineering Office at Barangay Bolaoen, San Fabian, Pangasinan.

In a statement, the DPWH said the 0.916 kilometer farm-to-market road hastens the mobilization and transportation of local’s farm produce to market centers, thus boosting socio-economic activities in the area.

According to District Engineer Edita Manuel, the travel time from Barangay Bolaoen to the town proper of San Fabian is reduced from one hour to 30 minutes.

“The farm-to-market road will help to address the improvement of the selling of farm produce to nearby business centers, and sustained locally owned farm produce and products resulting in the increase of farmer’s income,” said Manuel.

Aside from supporting the agricultural productivity, the farm-to-market road will also promote the natural resources of Pangasinan with the greenery plains and farmlands ideal for nature lovers and travelers seeking for adventures on the scenic view overlooking San Fabian beach.

The P10-million road concreting project implemented by DPWH was part of the convergence program of the agency with the Department of Agriculture.

The project was completed in the third quarter of 2022. (JCR/AMB/PIA Pangasinan)
