BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in partnership with the local government unit and a transport cooperative here recently launched a new terminal and 15 modern Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) under the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
Regional Director Edward Cabase said the new Transport Terminal located at the Pick & Save Compound, along the national highway in barangay Homestead has been established with the easing of health restrictions under the COVID-19 Pandemic.
“The transport terminal beside the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) will cease to operate with the opening of face to face classes. In this way, it will not disrupt any educational activity of NVSU,” he said.
Emely Guzman, general manager of the Vizcaya -Santiago – Cordon Transport Cooperative (VISCON), said 15 new Modernized PUVs were also launched to cater to commuters.
She said the new Modern PUVs will ply the Solano-Sta Fe route and vice versa.
Guzman said the new Modern PUVs were acquired through a P41 million loan agreement with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) with a low interest.
She said a Modern PUV is worth P2.7 million each unit.
Bambang Mayor Benjamin "Jamie" Cuaresma vowed to help the new transport terminal and the cooperative.
He said the earnings that will be generated from the new terminal will be returned back to the transport sector and the new terminal management. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
