Beware of ‘package scam’

QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- The Philippine Postal Corporation warns the public anew against the proliferation of ‘package scams.’ Scammers send deceptive emails or text messages about an attempted or intercepted package delivery to trick individuals into giving away their money, personal details, or data.

It also offers an attractive deal or false information and tricks individuals into clicking a link or opening an attachment.

To avoid being a victim, be always vigilant and follow these tips:

  • Always verify the sender and/ or email addresses;
  • Do not entertain messages from unknown senders;
  • Do not click any links or open any attachments;
  • Do not give personal or financial information; and
  • Report immediately.

Don’t fall for these scams and transact business directly with Philippine Postal Corporation at www.phlpost.gov.ph and the Official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/PHLPost .

You may also report to the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group Complaint Action Center Hotline +63 (8) 723-0401 local 749;  Smart/Viber: +63 961 829 8083 or email at acg@pnp.gov.ph (KSAA- PIA CPSD)
