Pilar Municipal Police Station chief Maj. Rachelle Garnica, in local radio interview, said that an alleged member of the New People’s Army has voluntarily surrendered, Jan. 16, to the PMPS due to the sufferings, miserable experiences and realization that he was deceived by the rebels.

The former rebel has reportedly served as Nonito Aguirre, Sr. Command squad member and "look out spotter."

Based on CPPO records, the policemen through its various local police stations as well as two Provincial Mobile Force Companies and partnership with the Philippine Army have neutralized 53 CTG members and its mass supporters in 2022.

These include nine CTG members arrested, 20 rebels who surrendered to authorities and 24 CTG mass supporters who have withdrawn support from the communist group.

The former rebels are being facilitated and validated for the government’s Enhanced-Comprehensive  Local Integration Program (E-CLIP),  a complete package of assistance for them to start a new, peaceful and productive life in the communities. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
