CHMSU, barangays ink MOA on disaster preparedness

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) –- Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) and the 13 identified coastal and flood-prone barangays in Talisay City signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for a Bottle-Net Life Jacket Project, a disaster preparedness initiative.

These 13 Talisay City barangays include Zone 2, Zone 3, Zone 5, Zone 7, Zone 8, Zone 11, Zone 12, Zone 14, Zone 14B, Zone 16, Zone 14-A and Zone 15.

The “Bottle-Net Life Jacket: A Personal Floatation Device for Every Family” was launched to create an alternative to the commercial life jacket that can be too expensive for Filipinos, especially those living along coastlines.

The project aims to promote disaster risk reduction and resiliency in the communities.

CHMSU and the partner barangays signified to ensure sustainable community involvement and linkages for the project and other programs on different areas such as Training and Livelihood, Environment, Gender and Development, among others.
