LAMUT, Ifugao (PIA)-- A salt iodization facility will soon be established in this town.

 The Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO)-Ifugao recently inked a memorandum of agreement with the local government unit of Lamut for the implementation of the project entitled “S & T Intervention for the Establishment of Salt Iodization Facility in Lamut, Ifugao.”

The project aims to ensure the sustainability of the Salt Iodization Program in lessening if not eradicating Iodine Deficiency Disorder in the municipality of Lamut and in the province of Ifugao.

PSTO Director Genna Jallorina led the MOA orientation and signing with Lamut Mayor Victomar Bunnol Jr. and BLGU-Poblacion East Barangay Captain Imelda Cawagdan

The project will adopt the DOST- Industrial Technology Development Institute salt iodizing machine technology for   the proposed   salt iodization facility in Poblacion East, Lamut.

PSTO- Ifugao stated that with the establishment of the facility, the  Poblacion East LGU would be able to supply iodized salt within the municipality and to other towns in Ifugao. (JDP/FBR-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
