DPWH completes multi-purpose bldg. in Dipaculao

BALER, Aurora (PIA) -- Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a multi-purpose building in Dipaculao, Aurora.
 
The P34.7-million infrastructure can be utilized as an evacuation center during calamities.
 
DPWH Regional Director Roseller Tolentino said the building is located in the elevated area of the coastal barangay of Ipil, which is one of the flood-prone areas in the municipality.
 
With a total area of 1,445 square meters, it can provide temporary shelter to about 500 evacuees.
 
“The newly-built facility is equipped with two laundry areas, two shower stalls, two, designated toilets for persons with disabilities, and six separate comfort rooms for men and women.
 
It also has an administrative office, breastfeeding room, clinic, prayer room, kitchen, mess hall, and a place for wet storage to optimize convenience for potential users.
 
Aside from serving as an evacuation center, residents can also utilize the building as an alternative venue for sports and other community activities for it contains a basketball court, stage, and training areas. (CLJD-PIA 3)
