CEBU CITY, Cebu, Feb. 3 (PIA) -- Pediatric patients in the Visayas can now access the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) Regional Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center (RPMRC) after its grant turnover and inauguration on Jan. 27.

The RPMRC first had its groundbreaking ceremony in April 2022.

The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI), along with the Aboitiz-Moraza family, provided a P10-M grant to VSMMC to complete the reconstruction and renovation of Phase 2 of RPMRC.

This covered the construction, refurbishment, and renovation of several services and sections of the center.

A P1.5-M fund was also donated by the family for the hospital’s wheelchair program.

Aside from the occupational and physical therapy sections, affordable spinal and leg braces (orthoses) and artificial limbs (prostheses) will also be offered to the public at a government-socialized cost.

The facility will also serve as a training center for future rehabilitation medical doctors who intend to train and practice their profession in the Visayas region. (MYP/PIA7)
