Capiz farms eyed for farm tourism dev't

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- Nine farm sites in the province underwent a bio-physical characteristics assessment, profiling, mapping and geotagging last Jan. 20 to 22 in view of the Department of Tourism (DOT) - Regional Office 6's farm tourism development program.

"The activity intended to put Capiz farm tourism sites and potential farm tourism sites on the map by providing accessible information about the sites in the digital platform," said a Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) news release.

It also gathered data for the DOT's plans to create farm tourism circuits in the region.

The DOT has partnered with the Panay Organic Producers Association (POPA) for the conduct of the three-day activity in the province.

POPA is an organization committed to promote the practice of organic farming and patronage of products by organic farmers in Panay Island.

It was represented by experts Alan Carl Casiano, Jerson Sala and Cindy Villaluna during the visit to farm sites in the province.

These sites include La Vie Food Products and Manufacturing in Brgy. Malitbog in Tapaz town, Eddsring Integrated Farm in Brgy. Dolores in Dumalag town, Capiz 

Ecology Park and Cultural Village in Brgy. Nagba in Cuartero town, Gicalde Farm in Brgy. Bangon-bangon in Sigma town, Department of Agriculture – Capiz Research Outreach Station in Brgy. Malapad Cogon, Sigma, Martin’s Integrated Farm in Brgy. Timpas in Panitan town, Capiz Chocolate Factory (Hacienda Libertad) – Capiz Cacao Industry Association (CCIA) in Brgy. Cogon, Panitan, DAD’s Farm in Brgy. New Guia in Maayon town and Kapawa Integrated Farm in Brgy. Solo in Pontevedra town. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz/PTCAO)
