ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- A total of 983 Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) users have registered their mobile number during the third roll out of facilitated SIM Registration in remote areas in Western Visayas, February 3, at the Covered Gym of the Lemery town in Iloilo.

The total number is composed of 859 Smart SIM users and 124 Globe SIM users.

DITO Telecommunity Corp. was not present during the  event as it has no infrastructure that serves the area.

Lemery mayor Oscar C. Villegas, Jr. said he fully supports the facilitated SIM registration spearheaded by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) 6 in the municipality for a faster and more convenient way of registering the SIM card numbers of the residents of the town and adjacent localities.

He also appealed to the representatives from Smart Communications, Inc. and Globe Telecom, Inc. to improve their facility in the area for faster data connectivity to greatly help students who are using the internet in their module classes and the general public.
