DIPOLOG CITY, Zamboanga del Norte, Feb. 6 (PIA) - The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC)-9 listed a total of 494 mobile numbers registered during its recent Mobile SIM Registration held at Sergio Osmeña, this province.
Telecommunication giants Smart Communications, Inc. with 312 of its subscribers registered; and Globe Telecom, Inc. with 182 subscribers registered, took part in the activity.
Regional Director Atty. Jurmobin Baddiri of NTC-9 said the activity is conducted simultaneously all over the country in line with the implementation of Republic Act No. 11934, otherwise known as the "Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Registration Act".
"The 180-day registration period commenced on Dec. 27, 2022, and may be extended by another 120 days, if needed," he said.
Under the law, all existing SIM subscribers are required to submit an accomplished form through a database platform or website provided by the telecommunications firms within 180 days.
Atty. Baddiri said phone numbers that will remain unregistered after six months will be deactivated.

Moreover, he stressed that mobile numbers of minors, aged 17 years old below, will have to be registered by the parents.
