DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS projects in Gloria, inaugurated

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – The municipal government of Gloria recently inaugurated the Barangay Market of Kawit and Barangay Papandungin Market, amounting to P1,275,000 and P1,273,600, respectively – funded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS) with the local government counterparts.

According to Mayor German D. Rodegerio, these projects were part of among the 10 barangay markets funded by KALAHI-CIDSS in 2022 in collaboration with the municipal government and concerned barangay officials.

Rev. Fr. Buhay P. Villaluna led the blessing during the inauguration of the markets with the presence of Mayor Rodegerio, Vice Mayor Romeo Edward Alvarez, Municipal Administrator Atty. Mike Ceniza and barangay officials of said barangays.

Rodegerio said the creation of barangay markets aims to help residents of the barangay to have accessible market in the vicinity for them to reduce expenses in gasoline, fares, and time as compared to directly going to the public market in town.

Moreover, residents would focus on the sale of a full array of fresh, healthful, value added, and prepared foods – often locally grown or produced, local chief executive said.  (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
