He informed that the Bible Week celebration every last week of January, which is declared as National Bible Month, is an institutionalized program in the municipality thru Municipal Ordinance No. 28-2016, which he authored when he was a councilor. He noted that La Trinidad is the first LGU in the country to institutionalize the Bible Week celebration, even prior to Presidential Proclamation No. 124, series 2017 by then President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Awingan thanked the religious sector for their strong partnership with the LGU in the its different endeavors and activities such as this celebration.
Mayor Salda re-organized the La Trinidad Bible Week Celebration Board with members from the La Trinidad Evangelical Association of Ministers, representatives from different offices of the LGU and some provincial offices of national line agencies to spearhead the observance of the Bible Week celebration this year with the theme, “The Word Leads to the Way, the Truth, and the Life” taken from the Book of John 14:6 and Isaiah 61:1-4.
Salda said that due still to the restrictions and other conflict of schedules, the LGU and the Bible Week Board only approved the bible reading activity on Jan. 30 and the Fun Run with Christ on February 4 for this year’s observance.
Close to 200 running enthusiasts in the municipality participated in the Fun Run with Christ around the town's main thoroughfares followed by Zumba dance exercise and a short program at the municipal grounds culminating the celebration. (JDP/ RMC- PIA CAR)
