Antiqueños urged to register for PhilHealth ‘KonSulTa’

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) here urged Antiqueños to register for the “KonSulTa” or Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama that offers a preventive benefit package for members and their dependents.

KonSulTa is an outpatient package, provided for free by the state health insurer, which covers primary healthcare services such as consultation, laboratory examination, and provision of medicines from accredited health facilities.

In a radio program on February 8, PhilHealth Antique Information Officer-designate Liza Joyce Songcayawon said that all Rural Health Units (RHUs) and government hospitals in the province are PhilHealth-accredited for the KonSulTa program.

To avail of the privileges, she said that members only need to register with any of the accredited KonSulTa providers.

Meanwhile, Songcayawon affirmed the suspension of the previously slated premium contribution increase this year from 4% to 4.5% and the income ceiling

from P80,000 to P90,000, following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

Despite the suspension of the contribution increase, she said that the new and improved programs and services of PhilHealth that are already in the pipeline will still push through to assist in the delivery of the medical needs of the people.

Songcayawon, in celebration of National Health Insurance Month this February, also bared the importance of social health insurance as it protects the people from the financial burden of illnesses and offers a method of financing healthcare.

Social health insurance is under the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) administered by PhilHealth and is guided by the principle of social solidarity or Bayanihan spirit, where everyone gives a share in the pursuit of providing all Filipinos with adequate health protection.

As of December 2022, PhilHealth membership coverage in Antique reached 94.22% of the eligible population.

With 5.78% left as non-members, Songcayawon hopes for PhilHealth Antique to achieve 100% membership in no time. (AAL/BPS/PIA Antique/Philippine Health Insurance Corporation)
