Students then participated in the poster making contest designed for school children while employees of the provincial government joined the search for the most orally fit individual.

Dr. Anabelle Bawang, DOH-Cordillera Oral Health Program Coordinator, conducted a lecture on the importance of good oral health practices as part of general wellness especially to the children and the interventions of DOH-CAR to minimize oral diseases such as oral infections, gum diseases, tooth decay and other conditions that can limit one's capacity to bite, chew, speak, and smile.

Members of the Philippine Dental Association-Cagayan Chapter and the Municipal and Hospital Dentists of Apayao also conducted counselling sessions for the parents and children.

This Dental Month observance pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 559, signed by then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in 2004, aims to educate the public about the value of maintaining good oral health while preventing possible diseases connected to it.

The theme this year is “Sa bibig na malusog at alaga, masustansyang pagkain enjoy hanggang pagtanda!”
