CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) – The provincial local government unit together with the Tabuk City and all the seven municipal LGUs passed the 2022 Good Financial Housekeeping assessment by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Thirza Dogui-is of DILG provincial office informed that the Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping (SGFH) is one of the criteria to the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
The SGFH, also referred to as Good Fiscal or Financial Administration or Financial Sustainability, shows the positive and stable economic performance of LGUs. This mandates LGUs to maintain, preserve and uphold fiscal discipline, accountability and transparency by adhering to budgeting rules and regulations.
Under this, LGUs are urged to develop best practices in public financial management, accounting and auditing standards and full-disclosure policy.
Indicators for the SGFH include the Commission on Audit issuance of the LGU financial statement in the preceding year, Full Disclosure Compliance Policy, posting of financial documents, local revenue growth and utilization of the 20 percent component of the Internal Revenue Allotment for development projects.
Governor James S. Edduba expressed confidence that the province’s LGUs will sustain the local financial housekeeping standard aligned with the tagline ‘Lumin-awa Kalinga’. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
