SARIAYA, Quezon (PIA)- A strategic partnership under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program, the marketing agreement between Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Quezon Province and the Manggalang Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (MARBENCO) in the Province of Quezon aims to provide the persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) under its care and custody of their basic food provision, necessary for a healthy living condition.
Present during the signing ceremony held at Brgy. Manggalang, Municipality of Sariaya on Thursday, February 2, were MABRENCO Chairperson, Bonifacio Español, Cooperative Manager, Violeta Rayos & staff and the BJMP Quezon jail wardens and representatives.
This forging seeks to collaborate with various government and private organizations in order to provide and extend direct marketing connections and access for Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (ARBO) to purchase their products directly.
In an interview with Jail Supt. Arvin T. Abastillas, Quezon Jail Provincial Administrator, he emphasized that this endeavor will further develop a good relationship among all its partner agencies and other associations involved and will help sustain the implementation of the signed agreement.
“The project has a two-way benefit, both for the farmers, who will be assured of a steady market and income that will also help increase their farm productivity, and for the PDL consumers, who will have access to better-quality food products,” Abastillas explained.
The stipulations including the responsibilities of all parties under the marketing agreement
support the government efforts to intensify the fight against hunger and reduce poverty across the country.
According to JO-2 Joefrie B. Anglo, EPAHP is the banner program of the inter-agency task force on zero hunger which is our government’s initiative to eradicate hunger by 2030. (RMO/PIA Quezon with reports from BJMP-Quezon)
