NTC pursues SIM registration in remote areas

This week, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) with the assistance of Local Government Units (LGUs) will facilitate another set of assisted SIM registration in selected remote areas.

The government-led assisted registration in identified geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) is intended to ensure that the implementation is intended to ensure that the implementation of the law is inclusive and will be completed on time.

With the help of NTC, Public Telecommunications Entity (PTEs) will be mounting SIM Registration booths in 18 remote areas on February 14-15.

As of February 12, 2023, NTC recorded the total number of registered SIMs in the country has climbed to 32,062,265 which is 18.97% of the 168,977,773 existing subscribers in the Philippines.

Smart Communications Inc. had the greatest number of registrants with 16,477,229, followed by Globe Telecom, Inc. at 13,132,454 and DITO Telecommunity Corp. with 2,452,582.
