''RANGE' re-elects DOST RD as ass'n prexy

ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- Regional Director Rowen Gelonga of the Department of Science and Technology 6 still leads the Region VI Association of National Government Executives (RANGE VI).

During the General Assembly Meeting and Election of Officers via online, Feb. 10, the 15 elected Board of Directors (BOD) unanimously re-elected Gelonga as the Association’s president for 2023-2024.

In his opening statement during the meeting, Gelonga, who was elected president since 2019, stressed that due to the pandemic and the need to prioritize the needs of our respective agencies, RANGE has been dormant for the past few years.

“Moreover, during this period, most of the elected officers have either retired or have been transferred to other regions. As such, there is an urgent need to elect our new set of officers,” he said.

The other newly elected officers of RANGE VI are Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) president Dr. Raul Muyong and Civil Service Commission director Nelson Sarmiento as first and second vice president, respectively; Philippine Information Agency OIC Jemin Guillermo and Department of Tourism director Crisanta Marlene Rodriguez as secretary and assistant secretary, respectively.

The association’s treasurer is Department of Budget and Management director Liane Gayumali with Philippine Statistics Authority OIC Nelida Amolar as the assistant treasurer; National Economic 

and Development Authority OIC Arecio Casing Jr. and University of Antique president Dr. Pablo Crespo are the newly elected auditor and business manager, respectively. 

On the other hand, Department of the Interior and Local Government director Juan Jovian Ingeniero, Commission on Higher Education director Raul Alvarez, Commission on Election director Dennis Ausan, West Visayas State University president Dr. Joselito Villaruz, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines director Eusebio Monserate, and Bureau of Customs district collector Ciriaco Ugay are the new members of the board of directors.

Meanwhile, the newly elected officers and BODs will take their oath before Presidential Management Staff (PMS) Undersecretary Mark Cristeo R. Gimenez on Feb. 16, during his visit in Iloilo City.

RANGE VI is composed of regional directors and assistant regional directors of national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations and government financial institutions, as well as heads of state universities and colleges in Western Visayas.

“Lately, we are trying to expand the membership to other senior officials of the above-mentioned agencies to reach out to as many government executives as possible,”Gelonga said. (JBG/PIA6)
