RDC6 bares importance of PDP 2023-2028

ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- With reference to the recent turnover of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028 to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Regional Development Council (RDC) 6 co-chairperson lawyer Jobert Peñaflorida revealed its importance in crafting development plans at the local level.

In an interview during the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) 6 Kapihan, the PIA Talk Shop online program, Peñaflorida noted that the PDP 2023-2028 serves as a blueprint that will guide the local officials to have a synchronized step in ensuring that all that the measures adhered is in consonance to the present administration’s goal to a more progressive Philippines.

It takes a community to be able to work together to achieve the goals since the last few years were challenging for all of us, cited Peñaflorida.

"As the new administration of President Marcos Jr. assumes office, it was a big challenge on how to survive and thrive again from the pandemic with many businesses that have closed, many have lost jobs, livelihood, and lives, all at the same time," he added.

With this, he stressed that the PDP is important to address these matters because it forms part of the society’s collective dream of a better Philippines which is dubbed as “Ambisyon 2040: Matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay para sa lahat.”

Further, Peñaflorida said the objective of PDP 2023-2028 is to decrease poverty incidence in the country and provide more opportunities to the people.

He implied that the committee is excited to support the national plan and to craft more programs all geared towards the achievement of the PDP.

He also emphasized that the role of PDP is critical as it provides the overall direction in crafting the Regional Development Plan (RDP), serving as the reference point in terms of pursuing socio-economic and political reforms and activities.

Apart from local development councils, Peñaflorida also revealed that the other sectors are also making their own plans which will be integrated into the RDP.

For the part of RDC and those from the NEDA, he noted that the teams are currently conducting ongoing consultations, different workshops with various stakeholders from the private and public sectors including the local government units, regional government offices, private and civic organization,  to take part and hear their voices in order to include their plans in the RDP since it is an inclusive development for all Filipinos.
