BESAO, Mountain Province (PIA) - - Valentine’s Day is usually celebrated with chocolate, flowers, date and dine out. For the Besao Municipal Police Station and its partners, they opted to have a date with the community of barangay Ambagiw in a community outreach.
The Besao MPS, the local government unit and Municipal Health Office-Besao, 4th Maneuver Platoon, the 1st Mt. Province Provincial Mobile Force Company with other stakeholders conducted a community outreach at the Ambagiw Elementary School highlighted with medical mission, feeding activity, free haircut services, information drive and distribution of learning kits.
Twenty-nine pupils of the Ambagiw ES were also given school uniforms.
The MHO led by Dr. Joy Fiar-od Dicdican also conducted free medical check-up and dental consultation to the community members. Laboratory procedures such as Urinalysis, Typhoid Test, Dengue Test and Sputum for Gene Xpert were also conducted.
The Besao RHU also shared information regarding mental and oral health, and demonstrated the proper way of brushing teeth and hand washing to the learners.
Dicdican emphasized in her lecture that there is a need for the community members especially the children and the elders to protect their well-being by eating healthy foods.
“We found out that some of you already have hypertension that is why we recommend that you eat fruits and vegetables, and to avoid non-fatty and salty foods, to make sure you are having the right amount of nutrition,” she said.
Fortifying their responsibilities as major contributors in the development of the learners of Ambagiw, a memorandum of agreement was forged between the uniformed personnel, the school and the MHO. (JDP/VJLT-PIA Mt. Province)
