NEGROS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) –- Murcia town executives underwent a one-day Incident Command System (ICS) Executive Course before taking on the Emergency Operations Center training.
The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) VI-facilitated and Murcia Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO)-led training aimed to equip town executives and senior managers on response and incident management.
ICS is a flagship program of the (OCD) and is a standard, on-scene, all-hazard incident management concept that can be used by all Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMCs) at all levels, especially the response groups.
OCD VI DRRM Division Chief-Civil Defense Officer V Ma. Aletha Nogra said the ICS Course seeks to improve the management of any event or incident within the locality.
MDRRMO Murcia chief Vicente Leonida said the training was envisioned to establish the standard collaboration and cooperation of offices and agencies within the local government unit (LGU) and between LGUs towards effective and efficient disaster response with a common goal of zero casualty.
Meanwhile, these participants also moved up to train on Emergency Operations Center management.
Resource speakers, namely Nogra, Cindy Ferrer of OCD VI, Anthony Ian Andaleza of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) VI, ICS Cadre Ranie Demiar, Fairy Grace Andrico of LDRRMO Pontevedra and Dr. Audrey Pestaño of Department of Health VI.
The EOC training runs for three days until February 17 at the Senior Citizen’s Building at the Murcia Public Plaza. (AAL/EAD/PIA6 Negros Occidental)
