PSA launches provincewide Civil Registration Month in Kabankalan City

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office recently launched the provincewide celebration of the 33rd Civil Registration Month (CRM) in Kabankalan City.

With the theme “PSA@10: Providing Efficient and Effective Civil Registration and Vital Statistics through Digital Transformation,” the program started with a motorcade around the city proper led by Kabankalan City Civil Registry Office and the beneficiaries of the PSA's PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP), Statistical Specialists II John F. Campomanes said.

The PBRAP aims to ensure that all births of Filipinos are registered in the local civil registry, especially those from the marginalized sector and indigenous people. It is also enrolled in the PhilSys National Identification System.

According to Campomanes, all Local Civil Registry in the province held various activities to mark the CRM celebration such as mobile SIM registration in different barangays, “Kasalan ng Bayan,” quiz bee and other related campaigns to boost awareness on civil registration.

Ninety years old Aurelio Manlapao of Barangay 9, Kabankalan City received his birth certificate and security papers as the 42nd beneficiary of the PBRAP from Campomanes, Statistical Specialists II Ramon M. Locsin, Kabankalan City mayor Benjie Miranda and Kabankalan City OIC Civil Registrar Monalisa D. Tabujara.

During the program, Miranda gave his assurance of support to the programs and activities of the PSA and the Kabankalan City Local Civil Registry. (AAL/Lljr/PIA6 Negros Occidental)
