ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--Residents here will soon have closer access to government health services as three super health centers will be constructed in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).
The Department of Health (DOH) and the City Government of Iligan led a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a super health center in Barangay Digkilaan, February 13.
The barangay local government unit provided the 400 square meters of land. The center has a 146-sq m floor area. The government, through DOH, provided the funding for the construction of the center and the provision of the equipment.
"These facilities are established to align with universal health care. We do not want anyone to be left behind. It should be inclusive," said Dr. Jovette Guinal of DOH-10.
Funds will also be allocated for the construction of two super health centers in the barangays of Kabacsanan and Del Carmen.
Iligan City Mayor Frederick Siao is elated for the project. He shared that they will also allocate a budget for the employment of health workers and the provision of equipment and medicine.
"We’re very happy nga ang budget gikan mismo sa department. So diri na lang ta concentrated sa pag-employ og doctors, nurses, equipment nga atong idugang ug ang pinakaimportante ang tambal," he said.
