Benguet PHO holds online Zumba dance contest

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) -- The different municipalities are encouraged to participate in an online Zumba dance contest to help in the promotion of health in the province.

The Benguet Provincial Health Office in partnership with the Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO) recently launched a community-based competition dubbed “Galaw-Sayaw Para sa Healthy Pilipinas: Barangay Zumba Dance Contest”

PHO 1 Dr. Meliarazon Dulay said the social media platform-based contest aims to encourage communities to engage in physical activities and regular exercises as well as to share knowledge and benefits of regular exercise.  It is also aimed at enjoining communities in championing in Benguet healthy habits for a healthy community.

Dulay said the contest will showcase the talents of the community members in encouraging healthy lifestyle through a video production and will be popularized thru social media.

The municipal local government units are invited to come up with Zumba dance video entry that should involve a group consisting of 10 to 15 members. Entries should be at least 3 minutes in duration but not exceeding 5 minutes.

The video entry of each LGU with captions promoting health tips shall be posted on their respective LGU official Facebook page. Facebook engagements shall form part of the judging criteria.

Winners will be on   awarded on February 24, 2023.

The activity is part of the celebration of Heart Month this February. It is also in line with the Health Promotion Framework Strategy (HPFS) 2030 of the Benguet Province-wide Health Systems.

PHO Health Education and Promotion Officer Patrick Depolio said the HPFS 2030 provides the framework, direction, and strategies for the planning, development, and implementation of health promotion policies, programs, and activities in the province-wide and municipal-wide health systems in the province for the period CY 2021-2030.
