BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – The Sangguniang Bayan held a public hearing on the proposed new tricycle fare matrix in this capital town.
This is in response to the appeal of Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Associations (TODAs) to raise the tricycle fare due to high gasoline prices.
The Local Government Unit (LGU) wants to ensure that a new tricycle fare matrix is fair for both the drivers and the riding public.
Vice Mayor Kiko Bernos along with SB Members Mark Go, Benedict Bersamira and Seraphin Alzate led the public hearing that was attended by the different clusters of tricycle operators and drivers in Bangued, the riding public, senior citizens, the municipal police and LGU traffic enforcers.
Under the newly proposed tricycle fare matrix, the LGU strongly adheres to the discount of students and senior citizens as provided under Republic Act 11314 or the “Student Fare Discount Act”.
The proposed fare matrix was unanimously agreed upon by the president of TODA Bangued James Tugadi, the representatives of the eight TODA clusters and the commuters.
Meanwhile, Bernos mandated the TODA clusters to display the official tricycle fare matrix among stations upon the full implementation of the amended local ordinance.
On TODA clustering, the drivers are following certain color codes per cluster to observe the free flow and organized public transportation in the capital town. (JDP/CAGT - PIA CAR, Abra)
