The town of Mallig in this province is known for producing one of the most renowned dairy milk products in the region.
Mallig Mayor Jose Philip F. Calderon recently met with DTI Isabela and discussed his plans for establishing a milk-cheese production industry in the town.
He said the plan to venture into cheese production would not only benefit the local dairy producers but provide them with new opportunities.
On the other hand, DTI Isabela Provincial Director Ma. Sofia G. Narag expressed her commitment to support the project which is under the agency’s Food Development Program.
Narag assured the local dairy producers will receive the necessary skills trainings to venture into cheese-making.
She also said DTI will assist in securing the licenses required by the Food and Drug Administration to enable the product to saturate both local and international markets in the future.
She further said DTI will also provide marketing assistance to help Mallig’s future cheese products gain a strong foothold in market streams.
