Naga City (PIA) – The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) unveiled the newly constructed two-storey multi-purpose evacuation facility in Brgy. Maydaso, Milaor, Camarines Sur, on Friday, February 17.
During the inauguration, Milaor Mayor Anthony R. Reyes said that the new evacuation center built and donated by PAGCOR will assure the safety of his constituents as well as the locals in neighboring towns during typhoons and other extreme weather disturbances.
One of the beneficiaries, Edwin Tularam, expressed his gratefulness to the government for this temporary housing aid.

“Napakalaking tulong po talaga nitong evacuation center na ito, kapag kinakailangan namin lumikas, hindi na namin kailangang makituloy sa bahay ng mga kamag-anak, o sa barangay hall dahil madalas po ay siksikan na doon (Having the evacuation center is a big help for us. We do not need to stay at our relatives’ place or at the barangay hall because they are frequently dense with people, whenever we need to move to a safer place),” he said.
Tularam added that whenever strong winds due to typhoons hit their vicinities, their roofs got blown easily, and floods rose to chest level.
To date, PAGCOR has inaugurated a total of 19 multi-purpose evacuation facility nationwide and is still waiting for the complete construction of 57 other. (PIA5/Camarines Sur)
