Philhealth members enjoy free health consultation through UHC

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Feb. 21 (PIA) – PhilHealth members are encourage to avail free consultation to enjoy their Konsulta benefit.

The Konsulta Benefit Package is a program of Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) to address the need of every Filipino to have accessible health care and as part of their effort in the implementation of Universal Health Care Law. This is also to avoid complications through early detection and to provide affordable drugs and medicines.

PhilHealth in region 9 is encouraging every health provider including private hospitals to be accredited in the Konsulta program to be able to have easier network and access to all providers.

As of 2022, there are a total of 63 providers in Zamboanga Peninsula including the 18 providers both private and public clinics and hospitals in Zamboanga City. “Our goal is to intensify the accreditation of Konsulta providers to cater to more out patients,” said Engr. Bernardino Labastida Jr., PhilHealth 9 Chief of Field Operations Division.

Each Konsulta providerin ZamPen have a ratio equivalent to one doctor to 20,000 beneficiaries. PhilHealth emphasizes that this package is an individual based service where the beneficiary will need to be consulted or screened by a doctor and will also be covered with selected laboratory and medicine needs. The access to these services will be based on their needs.

Konsulta program in ZamPen also has 14 accredited laboratories and 21 selected medicines. This program is also only for outpatient beneficiaries, if a patient needs to be confined, other programs and benefits of PhilHealth will be applicable.

Moreover, PhilHealth in Region 9 encourages more beneficiaries to avail of this package as this is a preventive care for every individual which is one of the objective of the Universal Health Care Law to have a guaranteed equitable access to quality and affordable health care goods and services, and protected against financial risks.
