CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) – This year’s Kalinga Treasures Fair that was part the province’s 28th founding anniversary and 4th Bodong Festival celebrations yielded P16,715,504 in sales.
Benita Mangadap of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial office said the sales this year is 400 percent higher than the P3.9M generated in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic broke-out.
The fair sales showed 37% came from real estate and Trading, 30% from furniture and furnishings sector, 19% from wearables and fashion, 11% from processed foods, 2% from gifts and house decors, and 1% from and ornamental plants.
The fair that run from February 6 to 20 was joined by 120 exhibitors from the province with some coming from Baguio City, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya and Ifugao.
The fair was organized by the DTI-assisted Chamber of Kalinga Producers, Inc. (CKAPI) together with thelocal government units and other agencies.
Organizers charged registration fees of P2,000 to CKAPI exhibitors and P2,500 to non-CKAPI on trading, and P2,500 to CKAPI members and P3,000 – non-CKAPI on furniture. Guest-exhibitors were charged P5,000.
Mangadap explained registration proceeds will help defray incidental costs and will be used to purchase additional facilities of CKAPI for use in coming fairs. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga) photos by Kalinga PLGU
