ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- Twelve delinquent employers in Aklan and Capiz provinces due to non-remittance of contributions were visited and issued show cause orders by the Social Security System (SSS) last Feb. 9 and 10, respectively, in view of the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign.
Based on SSS records, the concerned employers' accountability due to non-remittance of contributions with combined delinquency and accrued penalties is at P1.63 million.
SSS Visayas West 2 Division acting head Angelo Blancaver said that delinquent employers can avail of the ongoing Penalty Condonation Program for employers to conveniently settle their contribution delinquencies.
"We are here to help our delinquent employers by offering flexible installment ranging from 12 to 48 months, depending on their total delinquency amount. Aside from that, the accumulated penalties will be condoned after the settlement has been completed based on their approved payment plan," Blancaver said, adding that the SSS, by all means, will collect the contribution delinquency from these employers for the social security protection of their 97 employees.
The timely remittance of SSS contribution is very crucial on employee-members' eligibility to SSS benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, unemployment, retirement, death and funeral, and loan previliges, said a post-RACE campaign report.
Employers may coordinate with their respective account officers assigned at Kalibo or Roxas Branch for them to be assisted in the application.
In 2022, the SSS Visayas West 2 Division has conducted 12 operations on RACE campaign that collected an initial P3.55 million from 35 employers.
"We will never cease to conduct tis activity unless all registered businesses will voluntarily fulfill their obligations without the need of calling their attention," Blancaver stressed.
The SSS official also called on the employers to always prioritize their employees active SSS membership so that they are protected in time of contingencies. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz/With Report from SSS Amiel Genova)
