QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- To reach the younger segment of the population needing information about the Civil Service Commission (CSC)’s programs, policies, and services, they recently launched its own TikTok channel.
The account regularly posts cuts of “CSC in Action”, its newest weekly segment in PTV hosted by CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles. One of the videos, posted on 9 February featuring the schedule of civil service examinations this year, has already garnered more than 541,000 views.
Another video posted on 13 February, where Nograles is seen explaining what the Career Service Examination is about, has garnered more than 16,000 views in a span of one day.
With the handle @civilservicegovph, the TikTok channel already has more than 13,000 followers since it started on 30 January 2023.
Chairperson Nograles said that the CSC TikTok’s early popularity among users shows the demand for civil service-related information in social media. “Bagama’t mayroon kaming CSC Facebook Page at CSC YouTube Channel, naisip namin na makatutulong ang paggamit ng TikTok upang mas marami kaming maabot na mga kababayan natin, lalo na ang mga kabataan, na nangangailangan ng impormasyon tungkol sa civil service exams, at iba pang mga programa at polisiya ng CSC (Although we have a CSC Facebook Page and a CSC YouTube Channel, we thought that using TikTok would help us reach more of our countrymen, especially the youth, who need information about civil service exams, and other CSC programs and policies).”
The CSC Facebook Page (/civilservicegovph), which began in April 2016, has 1,181,022 followers by end of 2022. Moreover, the CSC YouTube Channel (@CSCPHmedia) has 4.97K subscribers, who receive regular updates on the agency’s video content about stories of outstanding government workers, and important civil service policies, among others.
Rest assured that the CSC will continue to uphold transparency and accessibility in government service through the use of social media (It has been proven by many, even different agencies and personalities in the government, that the use of social media is an innovative and effective way to deliver information and services to Filipinos. Rest assured that the CSC will continue to uphold transparency and accessibility in government service through the use of social media)”
Meanwhile, “CSC in Action” is broadcasted on PTV’s “Ulat Bayan Weekend” every Saturday, from 6-7 pm (with replays on Sundays), on PTV channels nationwide and its Facebook and YouTube accounts. (CSC /PIA-NCR)
