37 ARB members undergo training on livestock feeds production

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - At least 37 members of an Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) from Wigan Settlers Multi-Purpose Cooperative in the town of Cordon have recently undergone a training on livestock feeds production.

The training was conducted by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Isabela in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Isabela.

The course was facilitated by Diamantina SN Credit Cooperative Vice-Chairperson Nestor Rivera from the town of Cabatuan, who has diligently shared his expertise in feeds production using locally available raw materials.

The ARB member trainees were taught skills and knowledge that can help them produce affordable and quality feeds for their livestock and in turn, help them increase their productivity and income.

Rivera taught the farmers how to produce livestock feeds using raw materials such as corn and rice bran, azolla, coconut mills, and plants like ipil-ipil and madre de cacao to make feed pellets suitable for poultry, fish, and livestock.

Rivera also demonstrated the use of a pelletizer machine in making feeds, emphasizing the importance of utilizing available resources to cope with the rising prices of commodities.

With the knowledge acquired during the training, it is expected that the farmers can now rely on their own resources to sustain their livelihood and contribute to the development of their community. (MGE / PIA Isabela)
